Consider…

Schools must inquire deeper into their own practices, explore new ways to motivate their learners, make use of learning styles, introduce multiple intelligences, integrate learning, and teach thinking, and in the process discover the passion and moral purpose that makes teaching exciting and effective.

Michael Fullan

...a person and an organization must have goals, take actions to achieve those goals, gather evidence of achievement, study and reflect on the data and from that take actions again. Thus, they are in a continuous feedback spiral toward continuous improvement.

W. Edwards Deming

School improvement is not a mystery. Incremental, even dramatic, improvement is not only possible but probable under the right conditions.

Michael J. Schmoker

You cannot have a school where everyone is included in learning or develop a culture that is inclusive of learning unless you are also inclusive of all involved in the learning.

Sean Slade ASCD

Improving Schools... create constancy of purpose focussed on continual improvement of a school.

W. Edwards Deming

Improving Schools... build long term relationships with parents, other schools and improvement partners based on trust and constancy of purpose.

W. Edwards Deming

Improving Schools... stop looking for silver bullets and don't manage by targets, numbers or exhortations. Replace these with leadership.

W. Edwards Deming

Improving Schools... focus leadership on building the right culture; remove fear, build social capital, give time for intra & inter-team working, focus on continuous Goldilocks level improvement and develop people. Don't blame; enquire and fix.

W. Edwards deming

Improving Schools... cease dependence on inspection to achieve quality by building quality into the school's teaching and support processes and systems. Use self and peer evaluation, review and support.

W. Edwards Deming

Improving Schools... implement an effective programme of high quality education and development for all staff. It's everyone's job to improve the school's effectiveness and the quality of education offered to children.
